This Sunday, February 5, is The Fifth Sunday after Epiphany.  Living Savior will celebrate Holy Communion at 8:30 AM and Contemporary Worship at 11:00 AM.  Confirmation Class, as well as the Adult/Youth Education Hour will begin at 9:50 AM.

The Old Testament Reading is Isaiah 40:21-31.

The Epistle Reading is 1 Corinthians 9:16-27.

The Holy Gospel Reading is Mark 1:29-39.

Pastor Andrew C. Lissy  will be preaching and his sermon title is “You Can’t Lose!” and is based on the Old Testament Reading.

Living Savior’s MISSION is to know the love of Christ and serve God so that the Holy Spirit may work through us to bring others to Christ.

Nursery is provided for small children ages 4 and younger during the worship services and Sunday School from 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in room #2 in the Educational Wing. Susanna Honeycutt is the attendant. Please register your children in the nursery so she can get to know them.

Flowers this week were given to the glory of God by Deb and Al Gray.

Chancel Choir rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. The choir leads the singing of the hymns and liturgy, as well as presenting a special anthem each Sunday and at special services during the year. Voices are needed for all parts and Jr High through adults are welcome and encouraged to join. Being able to read music is helpful, but not required. If you enjoy singing, we need you for this important ministry.

For the Contemporary Services, musicians, especially guitar players are needed. Rehearsals are scheduled twice monthly. Contact Lois Finnern with any questions about either choir at 703-913-1728 or llfinnern@aol.com.

Women in Prayer meet Tuesday’s, 9:30-11:45 a.m. in the youth room. They will be studying the “Book of John” through April. New members, drop-in visitors and guests are always welcomed. Childcare available as needed. Contact Nancy Klein, 703-425-5928 for more info.

Lifelight is an in-depth bible study group that meets each Wednesday in the Narthex. We are studying “Acts”. We begin at 12:30 p.m. with an optional social time of dessert and coffee followed by the study, led by Donna Dietz, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Please contact Terri Beam with any questions at 703-239-0782 or terribeam@gmail.com.

The Small Group Home Bible Study meets the 1st and 3rd Sundays, 5-7:30 p.m. at the home of Chuck and Henni Froemke. 2012 Offering Envelopes are now available on a table in the corridor. We ask that each family stop by the table today and take home your box or boxes of envelopes. Also, please consider automating your regular offering - electronic giving provides convenience for you and much-needed donation consistency for our congregation. Getting started is easy. The Adult Bible Study “The Divine Drama” meets in Klein Hall at the 9:50 a.m. during the Sunday School hour. This intermediate-level adult Bible course surveys the Old and New Testaments in thirty sessions. Sixteen units discuss the “Biblical Narrative” concentrating on the main themes of the Bible. This will be followed by fourteen units called “Our Narrative” which discusses the implications of the Biblical narrative for today. Instructors are Pastor Fred, Pastor Andy and Keith Kratzert. Join us in Klein Hall each Sunday morning.

Military Bulletin Board ...to honor and help our military families. If you have a loved one in the military, please consider providing the church any of the following: their address, a photo of them and a list of items they might like to receive. We will post them on the bulletin board to the right of the church office for church members to provide items or write letters of encouragement. Concordia Lutheran Church Food Ministry is doing great work feeding the hungry in body and spirit, but needs your help! They distribute food each Wednesday and are especially low on cereals, soups, and canned vegetables at this time, but would appreciate any non-perishable food you can share. Men’s Prayer Breakfast ... Men of the congregation are invited to join other Living Savior men for breakfast, prayer and Bible study every 2nd and 4th Saturday at 7 - 8:30 a.m. Questions? Contact Paul Gross.

Men’s Christian Fellowship Dinner ... LSLC men meet the last Thursday of every month beginning at 7:00 p.m. for dinner, fellowship and a short bible study. This month’s dinner will be on January 26th. Questions? Contact Jim Neuburger.

Mission Vicar Program - There will be a Congregational Voter’s Assembly on February 12th to vote on the Resolution regarding the Mission Vicar Program. Please see the bulletin board outside Pastor’s office or the newsletter for more information!

Lost and Found - once again the Lost and Found area and the Hand-Off Shelves are filling up. We still have a crockpot from May and also some forgotten Christmas presents! Parents: there are several Confirmation books too! Please take the time today to check this area and take home items that belong to you.

COMMUNION POLICY: Everyone who is a baptized Christian, repents of sin, believes in the real presence of Christ's body and blood in, with, under the bread and wine of the Holy Communion is cordially invited to receive the Lord's Supper at Living Savior. To receive wine by individual cup, take a cup from the serving tray and wait for Pastor to say "The Blood of Christ", then return the cup to server that follows Pastor. To receive wine by the common cup (chalice), take the base & tilt to receive the amount you wish. If you wish to receive nonalcoholic white grape juice, there are individual cups in the center of the tray. If you wish to receive Gluten/wheat/corn and soya free communion wafers please speak to Pastor or an usher before the start of service.
