Installation of Reverend Andrew Lissy

Pastors Andy and Fred

On Sunday Jan 28th, the Rev. Arthur Humback, of the Southeastern District, Missouri Synod Lutheran Church , presided over the installation of Reverend Andrew Lissy at Living Savior Lutheran Church , Fairfax Station. In attendance were ten clergy from the Church delegation as well as a number of local pastors that supported the installation service. Many friends, family members and church members were in attendance for the afternoon ceremony that celebrates the transition from the founding pastor to only the second pastor for Living Savior. The Reverend David Goodine, lifelong friend of Pastor Lissy, provided a very inspiring homily that provided the Church with a vision for the future.

Pastor Fred Klein retired at the end of July after 21 years as the Senior Pastor at Living Savior Lutheran Church . Pastor Klein began his ministry at Living Savior 21 years ago when he was installed as mission developer for the then Burke-Fairfax Station Mission in 1985. When the mission was accepted into the Southeastern District, LCMS, the newly formed congregation named Living Savior, called him as its first pastor. Under his pastoral leadership Living Savior has grown from a handful of people to approximately 500 members.

Andrew Lissy was raised in Chatham, New Jersey, and graduated from Concordia College, Bronxville, New York in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/Sociology. He is a graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis , Missouri (1985), and holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Human Resources from Rider University, Lawrenceville, New Jersey .

Pastor Lissy did his vicarage at St. Paul Lutheran Church, New Orleans, Louisiana. His first call, in 1985, was as Assistant Pastor at Hope Lutheran Church and School in Levittown , Pennsylvania . In 1987, he was called to be Pastor of that same church. He served there for 17 years. In 2002, he became the Pastor of First English Lutheran Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. He served there through the difficult and trying times of Hurricane Katrina. Pastor Lissy is married to Natalie (nee) Schroeder, whom he met during his vicarage at St. Paul Lutheran Church, New Orleans . They were married August 17, 1985. Pastor Lissy has two step-daughters — Nicole Watkins, who lives in Merrimack, New Hampshire with her three children, Christopher, Caitlin and Cameron – and Sabrina Cusimano, who lives in Langhorne, Pennsylvania with her husband, Gus Kuhl, and their daughter, Ashley. Pastor and Natalie have two children, Elizabeth, who is a freshman at Louisiana State University , and Andrew, who is a junior in high school.
