Mens Fellowship Dinner

The last Thursday of every month, the Men’s Fellowship group meets for dinner and a fun program.   The monthly fellowship dinner helps to unite the men and guests in fellowship at Living Savior.

Living Savior Lutheran Church is located just south of Fairfax City on Route 123. Living Savior Lutheran is a welcoming church that serves the Lord. Living Savior ministries have something for everyone, young and old. Our men’s ministry is particularly active with a variety of events that promote service and fellowship.

2012 Men's Retreat

The 4th Annual Men's Retreat was held at Rosalyn Retreat Center, Richmond, VA, September 21-23, 2012. There were 15 men from LSLC. The theme was "Forgiveness". The Reverend Art Umbach, South Eastern District, Facilitator, Central Region and Director for Spiritual Life, facilitated the discussions.

The retreat started with a discussion on, "the Way of Forgiveness". Often times we hold a grudge, and have a difficult time forgiving our relatives and friends. Our Savior showed us how to forgive (a couple of examples.....John 8: 1-11, the woman taken in adultery; John 4: 1-42, the Samaritan woman at the well). We also discussed that sin has consequences. We need to seek the strength from God to forgive, but, the committed sin does have ramifications. For example, in Psalm 51 David confesses his sin over Bathsheba. God forgave David, but their child was still born, and as the Bible describes, "the sword" never left David.

In the Lord's Prayer, we ask God to forgive our sins, and give us the strength to forgive those who sin against us. Next time you say the Lord's Prayer, give a little extra thought to this portion of the prayer.

2011 Men's Retreat

The 2nd Annual Men's Retreat was held at the Roslyn Retreat Center, Richmond, VA, September 30 - October 2, 2011. The Reverend Art Umbach, Mission and Ministry Facilitator for the Central Region of the Southeastern District, was the facilitator. The retreat focus was prayer.

Prayer was selected as the topic because every Christian can benefit from a stronger prayer life. Our Savior encourages us to pray; in fact, He led by example, often times praying alone, but also praying with his disciples and with others. Art Umbach discussed the power of prayer, using examples from the Bible and from personal experiences from his personal life and from his position as a Pastor and mentor. Specifically, we discussed each part of the Lord's prayer and why it is the perfect prayer. Art also led discussions on healing prayer, prayer to examine our daily behavior, prayer for spiritual direction, and mission prayer partners. We also discussed how to strengthen the usage of prayer throughout the ministries of LSLC.
